Player wrote:Overview: The Cerebrate is one of the first bosses you face in SCU and can become a real pain if your team doesn't pay attention to it's patterns. Cerebrate is a sort-of tutorial boss that teaches you the basics of boss fights in this game. I will be splitting the fight into 6 phases for the sake of this guide.PHASE 1 (The Opening Phase): Your strike team will enter the Cerebrate's lair and a cutscene will play out, after the cutscene is over you will immediately begin the fight. The focus of this phase is to deal as much damage to the boss as possible to get him down to around 90% health. Cerebrate won't do much in this phase except burrow once to then immediately pop back up afterwords. When the Cerebrate burrows the second time, this phase is over.
Player wrote:PHASE 2: (The Spawning Phase): The surrogate will burrow and spawn 2-3 Swarm Hosts that must be destroyed to continue on. If the Cerebrate is in his spawning pool he will use the "Venus Breath" ability on a random team member which will do medium DoT if you are in the green cloud. He may occasionally burrow and drop rocks on your heads, so watch out for red circles that will do damage and stun you (you get an achievement if you avoid 100% of the rock during the fight). When the Swarm Hosts are destroyed, the fight moves on to phase 3.
Player wrote: PHASE 3: (Enraged Phase): The boss will return to the fray and start attacking you again while also burrowing on occasion. He may use an ability called "Charge", if you are targeted by this move out the red circles in front of him or you WILL take MASSIVE damage and be knocked back. Cerebrate may also spawn eggs that MUST be destroyed if you don't want 30 zerglings wiping your team in 10 seconds. The boss may also get a damage boost which makes his attacks hit even harder. When he burrows and spawns more zerg, this phase is over.
Player wrote:PHASE 4: (Hunter Phase): Similar to phase 2, the boss will spawn a Hunter Killer that must be defeated to continue. The boss will use "Venus Breath" and burrow to rain rocks on your team as usual. There is one new attack in this phase called "Mighty Venus Breath" that is like the normal version only it does more damage and has a larger range. When the mini-boss is beaten, phase 5 starts.
Player wrote:PHASE 5: (The Surrogate Phase): When you get the boss to around 40% life, Zerash will step in to fire off a beam that does MASSIVE damage and knocks the Cerebrate back TWICE in a row. The boss will then burrow again and spawn two tanky Surrogates to impede your progress. The surrogates have LOTS of health, so marking one of them is beneficial to your success. Sometimes the Surrogates will leap across the room and stun you when they land, to counter this move out of the red circles or stun them before they jump. These mini-bosses also have an attack that reduces your armor, so be careful when trying to melee them. Cerebrate also will try to shoot acid pools at your feet which will do large amounts of damage if you stay in them too long. When the surrogates are beaten, the last phase begins.
Player wrote:PHASE 6: (The Final Phase): The Cerebrate will return to battle with about 10-15% health and spawn 4-6 Roachlings to assist him in battle. You need to focus him down with your most powerful abilities and destroy any eggs that may spawn around the arena (Warping in a vehicle, or mercenary during this phase really helps! ). Watch out for his "Charge" ability because it's now instant-death if you get caught in it's range. The boss will take less damage and deal more damaged due to it's buffs. Once you have beaten the Cerebrate, sit back and enjoy the cutscene!
